A creative education and production hub in the heart of House One โ welcoming beginners discovering art for the first time and seasoned practitioners deepening their craft.
The Mini Art Studio at House One is a working creative space with natural light, open ground access, and the quiet company of the island just outside the door. It is set up for drawing, painting, mixed media, printmaking, nature journaling, collage, and photography โ with materials and guidance for every level of experience.
The Studio connects directly to Jemma's Gallery: student and intern works find their way onto the gallery walls, and the creative energy of the two spaces feeds each other constantly. It also feeds the retreat program, where creative workshops form a cornerstone of daily life.
Group sessions for 2โ8 participants, offered as half-day (3 hours) or full-day (6 hours) experiences. Formats rotate seasonally โ drawing, painting, mixed media, botanical art, nature journaling, collage, printmaking, photography. Facilitated by Jemma, resident artists, and invited guest artists.
One-on-one instruction tailored to your goals โ whether you are learning from scratch, refining a specific skill, or working on a project that needs skilled guidance. Single sessions or multi-session packages available.
A 3โ6 month placement for art school graduates, emerging artists, and creatives in transition. Interns contribute to studio support, workshop facilitation, gallery installation, and Sanctuary art projects โ in exchange for mentorship, exhibition opportunities, portfolio development, and accommodation.
Skills-for-shelter model. Applications open on a rolling basis.
Collaborative works born from the community โ permanent installations on the grounds, seasonal pieces inspired by the food forest, limited edition prints, and social media content series. Every resident, intern, retreat guest, and visitor is a potential collaborator.
These works are exhibited in Jemma's Gallery and sold as limited editions.
